Since 1876, the Corps has trained leaders for our communities, our state, and our nation – all within the framework of a military-style organization.
College is the first step in making you ready for the workforce. The Corps is, at its heart, a program that helps young men and women learn, practice, and develop critical leadership skills that will serve them for the rest of their life. A majority of our leadership training graduates pursue a career in the public or private sector; however, the Corps of Cadets consistently commissions the most ROTC cadets in the nation. An average of 40-45% of our cadets pursue a military commission in the Army, Air Force, Navy and Marine Corps.

Leadership development begins with a world-class university with over 140 years of tradition and builds on that foundation, guiding cadets in developing time management skills and providing structure while enjoying the benefits of being at one of the nation’s top public universities.

Texas A&M is more than a great university; it is the home of the Aggie family with a long history of spirit and tradition. The Corps has long been known as the “Keepers of the Spirit and Guardians of Tradition” because of cadets’ key roles in the preservation and execution of these time-honored traditions. Whether its the Ross Volunteer Company conducting a three-volley salute at Silver Taps or Aggie Muster, Parsons Mounted Cavalry firing the Spirit of ’02 cannon everytime the Aggie football team scores, or caring for Reveille, Texas A&M’s official mascot, the Corps of Cadets ensures the great traditions of Texas A&M live on, just as they have for over 140 years.

Acceptance to Texas A&M University is the ONLY pre-requisite for joining this leadership training program. The majority of incoming cadets are in the freshman class, however, the Corps is open to all Texas A&M students.
